Hosted by Jo Stanley
There’s a real stigma around aging, and the Third Age of life is often misrepresented and misunderstood.
Join us as we tackle essential topics like overcoming downsizing hurdles with expert Peter Walsh, destigmatizing discussions around loneliness with Dr. Michelle Lim from ‘Ending Loneliness Together,’ and demystifying financial planning for retirement.
We’ll have meaningful conversations, inviting real-life experiences and insights from everyday Aussies making the most of life in the Third Age.
Jo Stanley has been a mainstay on Australian TV and radio for more than two decades. She’s appeared on Triple M, Gold 104.3 and Fox 101.9, co-hosting The Matt and Jo show in the late 2000s, which became the number 1 breakfast show in Melbourne.
More recently, she's been hosting House of Wellness, which covers a range of health and wellbeing topics, empowering people to live a healthier, happier life at any stage. With all this experience, her depth of knowledge and warm, genuine presence, she is the perfect fit for hosting the Pod of the Third Age.
Peter Hitchener has been a staple on Australian TV and radio for the past 50 years, and has recently taken a step back from weeknight news as a sort of semi-retirement, which is not really a retirement at all.
We talk about his wonderful career and his plans for his third age.
After that we chat to Weary Dunlop Retirement Village resident Bill Hearn, who is a dedicated volunteer with Very Special Kids, and is also a Justice of the Peace and an Indeppendent Person.
Spirituality means different things for different people.
Rachael Wass, CEO of Meaningful Ageing Australia, believes we deserve more than just physical health and wellbeing as we age.
To Rachael, our spirituality plays a major role in our emotional wellbeing in our third age of life, whether its yoga, meditation, singing, bushwalking, praying or anything else.
Afterwards, we speak to John Flynn Retirement Village resident Julie Ross about her sense of spirituality throughout life and how it helped her on her journey to become a practicing minister for the Uniting Church.
In our fourth episode of P3A, we'll be exploring the financial side of retiring. It can be overwhelming for many people, especially if you're not economically-minded. We'll chat to Rachel Lane, director at Aged Care Gurus, an organisation dedicated to dysmystfying retirement living and aged care for older Australians.
We'll then speak to Bert Newton Retirement Village Heather Duggan about her first hand experience with getting her finances in order to retire happy and comfortably.
